Uitproberen Open Fitting

In samenwerking met OIM Haren en het Handenteam van UMCG Groningen biedt Delft Prosthetics armprothesegebruikers de mogelijkheid om de WILMER Open Fitting uit te proberen.

De Open Fitting
Een verademing voor de arm.

De WILMER Open Fitting voor kinderen en volwassenen is een nieuw alternatief voor de afgesloten plastic onderarmfittingen. Voor kinderen is de Open Fitting extra handig. Kinderen kunnen nu zelf hun prothese op en afdoen, zonder hulp van hun ouders en zonder kous. De instelbare Open Fitting ‘groeit’ met het kind mee. De Open Fitting blijft hierdoor ook tijdens de groei goed passen en gaat hierdoor gemiddeld 50% langer mee. Een nieuwe fitting aanmeten is dus minder vaak nodig. De Open Fitting is geschikt voor een fitting aan de onderarm. (Minimum stomplengte ongeveer 3 cm.)

BeBionic hand with Open Fitting

Thursday July 19th was a special day for Christian. That day he received his new prosthetic arm in the Erasmus Medical Center in Rotterdam. His new prosthetic arm is a unique combination of the BeBionic v2 hand (by RSLSteeper) and the WILMER Open Fitting (by Delft Prosthetics).

This prosthetic arm combines the advantages of one of the newest electric hands together with the optimal wearing comfort of the Open Fitting. The Open Fitting gives a free and fresh feeling, because of its open structure. The Open Fitting also makes the prosthetic arm feel lighter. This is because the area at the forearm which supports the prosthetic arm is located more distal than in a closed fitting. As a result the support forces on the forearm are lower.

Adjusting the electrodes of the BeBionic hand with Open Fitting

Peter van Vliet of LIVIT Orthopedie handed over the new prosthetic arm and made some final adjustments to the electrodes. After donning the cosmetic gloves, Christian could start to use his hand. Everything worked perfect.

Using the BeBionic hand with Open Fitting

Because of the adjustable locking mechnism of the Open Fitting, the prosthetic arm fits optimal under every condition. One does not have to be afraid that the prosthesis can slip off. Carrying heavy object is also no problem when using the Open Fitting.
